Study at ECSL

ECSL is an ESL school for adults and is an official IELTS Test Centre. It is owned and managed by ESL instructors since 1998. The school caters to motivated students who want to work hard to achieve academic excellence and personal success. ECSL is located in downtown Halifax, close to restaurants, universities, libraries, grocery stores, and markets, shops.

Our current campus was purpose-built in 2011 and is bright and welcoming – most students are surprised to find such bright colours in a school. They love the warm atmosphere and enjoy relaxing and studying in our spacious student lounge.

ECSL has capacity for 200 students in 19 classrooms. Class sizes are small – usually between 8 and 10 students, with slightly larger classes for higher academic levels. Minimum age is 17. ECSL has a diverse student population. In 2013 we welcomed students from thirty countries including South Africa, Korea, Brazil, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, China, Colombia, Haiti and Morocco.

We offer six main programs of study: English for Communication, University College Pathway (with bridging level), IELTS Preparation, Masters Preparation, International Business English, and Teaching English to Young Learners.

I was desperate to start my higher studies in United Kingdom. My first application was made in 2004 and the 2nd was made in 2005. My refusals in both occasions caused by my un matching structure of education and career as clearly stated by UK Visa Officers. Therefore I had to give up my idea of studying in UK.
